We recently retired. In Iowa. We've done a little chartering, and I'm thinking about buying a boat, and keeping her somewhere on the East Coast. A pilothouse seems like a terrific idea, which leads pretty directly to Nauticats. So far, I've only been able to admire them on the internet. Driving a thousand miles to look at one for sale is currently my only option. I'm looking for suggestions. Are there any Nauticats sailing the cold waters of the Great Lakes? Are there any owners here who would offer a tour? I'm particularly interested in the 44, because I need my wife to look at the aft stateroom, and say, "Wow, we could actually live here!" But I'd be delighted to take a look at anything with the Nauticat name on it, because they're such gorgeous boats.

Thanks. I'd been looking at that one, and we still might make the trip to see her. The broker says he'd be willing to make the one hour drive it takes for him to show her, but I hate to ask that when the prospects of a sale are pretty low. My wife is slightly disabled, and needs a cane to feel secure getting around. One look at those companionway steps, and it was a pretty definite "No". The side entry on the older-style Nauticats look pretty inviting, by comparison. And I was just now reading some comments on the Trawler Forum praising side doors for short-handed docking. We might yet end up with a catamaran, for ease of getting around, but these are such pretty boats, that they're at the top of my list for now. If it weren't for Covid, I'd just plan a drive to Galveston, where there's one that really appeals to me.
